Electric Fuel Pump on C-81

Recommended Posts

Has anyone put an electric fuel pump on a c-series wheel horse tractor with the rear mounted fuel tank ? I want to put an electric pump on my C-81 but can't figure out where to mount it because it has the rear mount fuel tank. The fuel pump instructions say to mount it within 12 inches of the bottom of the fuel tank. Anyone have a suggestion? I thought about mounting it under the fender pan but just wondered if someone else has installed one. :dunno:

I didn't mount it I got it this way but someone bolted it to the side of the gas tank tower on a C-161, same basic tractor, if you remove the fender you will see a big open area it looked like a good spot to me.

Dave, I am happy to report that the i was able to mount the fuel pump in the space under the fender. no problem, just made a flat mounting bracket and drilled 2 holes that line up with the 2 bolts that go into the top of the trans. and 2 holes for the mounting bolts that came with pump. Bolted the pump to the bracket and used the 2 trans bolts to mount the bracket in place. It's a great place to mount the pump to protect it from the weather etc. The best part is, now i just touch the key and the old K-301 fires right up. No more cranking the engine until the gas gets to the carb. I couldn't be happier. ( Thanks to Kelly for suggesting this mounting spot.) Hope this helps. :thumbs2:

Any information on the brand, type, size, pn for the fuel pump. I'm not sure what I should be asking for when I go to the auto parts store.

Thanks, Dave

I used this one on my C-175 a little big but the price was right. I bought mine at a local store that is part of the Auto Value chain for $35 I think. Mine is mounted to the dash tower below the battery and I used existing holes. I pick up power on the positive side of the coil.

Dave, The fuel pump i purchased is the Facet Purolater model # 04SV. I purchased it on e-bay for $39.99. The pressure is rated at 1 1/2 to 4 PSI. I believe that this pump is available at auto stores. There are other brands available also just stay with the same pressure rating as the pump i purchased. That's what Brian Miller recommends on his web site, that's where i got the idea for adding an electric pump. Hope this helps. :thumbs2:

I just put the Facet pump on my C-121 and it works great. Ran the hot through the switch for the light just so i can turn it off if needed. And just left the old pump on to block the hole in the block. with a jumper hose so dirt won't get in it.

Thanks everyone above for the idea.  it saved me some cash.
