Will a 12 hp kohler from a c-120 fit without much hassle on my b-80 4spd?

It will probably hit the hood, in front, the early B-80's with 4 speeds had a little shorter frame in front of the engine.

As far as the physical installation of the engine, the B-80 / 4 speed has a 43.5" wheel base, so it should actually be the same deal as the B-100 automatic with the K-241.

The right front engine mounting bolt (threads up in to the bottom of the oil pan) can't be used, so a J bolt hooked under the frame rail edge and up through the outside corner hole of the oil pan will be required to secure the engine at four points.

Wiring, control cables, gas line, etc. may need alterations/modifications.

I haven't had my B-80 / 4 speed since 2007 so I can't get a measurement, but I'm thinking ~and I could be wrong~ that the hood top panel is the same length as the 45.5" wheelbase tractors. They just angled the grille portion rearward to meet the hinge. There should be room for the "big block" air cleaner, but not in excess.

I have a naked B-80 4-speed frame, and only one hole lines up with any of the engine mounting holes on my K301, the tab hole nearest the drain tube on the flywheel side. There are no holes even close to the 10-1/2" oil pan holes, and no hole for the front tab on the flywheel side. Picture coming.

Actually, I was looking at the wrong holes. I put a battery holder in place and found that there are holes that might line up, but it would put the engine too close to the front.

That frame is shorter by 2 inches. I just used one for a 12 hp build. The hood must have a different hinge setup. I modified mine for a 60's hood.

Sorry. I was useing my phone and didn't see the whole discussion. Should have stayed out of it.

My 74 B-80 has a K301 on it, and it fits great. I got it with this engine already on it, but here are some pics.
