c125 muffler close to air cleaner

Recommended Posts

how close is the muffler on the k301 on a c125 normally? i also had one of these mufflers on my k341 in the c160 and you can see where the paint has burnt considerably on the air cleaner. not having these two for much more than a couple of weeks, im not sure what sort of clearance they are supposed to have. i could install a longer nipple in the exhaust port to push it away a little more but until i get the hood on i wont be able to tell how much room i have...

heres how close it is.....

Not too familiar with the 301A with the Iso Mounts Martin, but it look's like your Muffler is a 1 piece unit and should have a Tab welded on the bottom that bolts to the Engine Mounting Plate.

So I would assume it is a fixed point with no adjustment to increase clearance?......then again, nothing seems to be impossible when your dealing with them!.

richard, yes the bottom is fixed, but i think i could move the top out more by using a longer exhaust nipple.....

just not sure what the 'norm' is.....

On the C-101 that I had, the muffler was actually touching the air cleaner when the tab at the bottom was attached. On my B-100's it varies according to how deep I inserted the nipple into the muffler, and how I positioned the muffler before tightening the clamp, but in each case, it was very close to the air cleaner cover.

Looks good Martin, and yes they are a tight fit, and Terry the black hoods all had black engines.

And how many of these fine looking machines are you bringing to the show???
