Agage1 83 #1 Posted July 16, 2012 I've been looking for a round hood model for a winter project with my son. But they are extremely hard to find here. Finally found one way up in pa. Took the family up there today to pick up a 605 with 8 hp kohler. The tractor is worn pretty good but it runs. On the way home I came across an 855 in much better condition needs nothing. The owner was willing to sell it for the same price as the 605 I had just bought (this stung a little). Anyway now that I got the 855 I have need for the 605 so if anybody is looking for one let me know. If not I might rat rod it out. I will try and post pictures tomorrow
Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted July 16, 2012 Your title is miss leading I thought you picked up two round hoods?? both those are square hood tractors both the first year of the square hood 1965, but still short frames, or did you mean 854 and 604?? and they are some of my favorite tractors the short frames, post up some pics of your new finds. Agage1 83 #3 Posted July 16, 2012 Goog catch I'm not a good Typer they are a 604 and an 854. Now I'm trying to figure out which deck I can use with the 854. I'm not that familiar with these early models, I just know they look cool and I always wanted one since I first saw them
Agage1 83 #4 Posted July 16, 2012 I will post pics as soon as I can figure out how, I'm just starting out with computers( I know that must sound pathetic). The 604 has been hacked up a little. A notch was cut around the steering wheel and a hinge welded to the front at the bottom, I guess to make it more easy to open. I know I could fix it with a little welding and grinding I'm just not as motivated now that I found the 854. I only wanted one to begin with. I wouldn't have bought the 604 had I come across the 854 first. The 854 was just in such good shape I had to buy it.

Kelly 1,033 #13 Posted July 17, 2012 The 854 looks pretty good, it has the wrong steering wheel it should look like the one on the 604, and the 3 point looks like someone cut up a Sears tractor for the rear plate to mount it.
