AMP762 0 #1 Posted July 13, 2012 I have a 88 520H that is hard to start after it sits for a couple days.It spins over like the gas has leaked out of the carb. Once it starts shut it off, and start it again it hardly turns over before it starts.Any ideas?
MarkPalmer 81 #2 Posted July 13, 2012 This one sounds like a common float needle leak to me. You'll need to remove the float bowl and replace the needle and/or seat. -Mark-
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #3 Posted July 13, 2012 It's normally the "check valve(s)" in the fuel pump allowing the gas to drain back the line to the tank. You can experiment by turning the fuel valve under the tank off after each use, or you can simply do like I do with my 416H & GT-1848 when they have been sitting for a while...... lightly pressurize the gas tank. How you do the pressurizing depends on your resources. If my compressor tank isn't empty, I wrap the air nozzle (blow gun) with a rag and stick it in the tank opening. If there no air in the compressor, I use lung power. You can use a piece of hose with a rag wrapped around it. You only need enough pressure to fill the line and "prime" the pump.
