Wheelhorse84 87 #1 Posted July 12, 2012 Just wondering what it means if the tractor runs really well when the choke is 3/4's on, when youturn the choke off it runs rough then stalls. Thanks
jdog_kustoms 82 #2 Posted July 12, 2012 needs the carb cleamed or fuel needle needs backed out to put more fuel to the engine
MarkPalmer 81 #3 Posted July 13, 2012 Usually blocked jets caused by dirt or fuel varnish. Time to remove and fully clean the carb. -Mark-
Save Old Iron 1,571 #4 Posted July 14, 2012 carbs atomize fuel in a precise air / fuel ratio. if you cut back on the fuel in the mixture (due to clogged or restricted passageways in the carb body), the mixture becomes too gas lean and the engine runs rough. Closing down the choke and restricting air entering the engine once again (roughly) balances out the fuel and air to a mixture ratio the engine can run on. rmaynard 16,343 #5 Posted July 14, 2012 Look for play in the throttle shaft area. If you have too much, air will be sucked down along the shaft and make the mixture too lean as well. A throttle shaft bushing kit is under $10.00 and while you have the carb apart to clean it, it's a good time to add the new bushing.
