brandon701 23 #1 Posted July 10, 2012 I'm looking into rebuilding my wheel horse d 250s gear box and was wondering where I can get the parts/gears to rebuild it.
Shuboxlover 481 #2 Posted July 11, 2012 I have a good used one if you can't find parts for it...
wh500special 2,277 #3 Posted July 11, 2012 The D250 is a curious beast and is a mix of German, French, and Italian components. The steering gearbox was sourced from Italy - the name of the company who made it escapes me - and have been somewhat prone to problems after years of service and possible neglect. Many, if the tractor was parked outside, end up with water in the housing and crack open in the winter when things freeze. As far as I know, no collector/repairer has ever let it be known that they've sourced components for the steering units on these tractors. Finding a used one is your best bet and may very well be your only reasonable option. Steve
brandon701 23 #4 Posted July 11, 2012 Ok thanks for the info. How much is the used gear box if you are willing to sell it and is there much play in it.
