jhunsch 20 #1 Posted July 8, 2012 WH Trailer I rescued a trailer & want to fix it up, I need some help. (Ideas). I am thinking of cutting off the top 2or 3 inches and putting a angle iron frame all around it. Any ideas are welcome. It looks a though the previous owner left it upside down in the rain for a long time. One rim is rusted right by the valve stem. I am also curious if these are original rim & tires. Can anyone help with what year it is. Model 5 1001 6 Serial 827110 Jeff
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,483 #2 Posted July 8, 2012 Sure your model number is not 7-2211 or 7-2211-6? 5-1001 is a 1972 42" side discharge mower. Garry
jhunsch 20 #3 Posted July 8, 2012 Thank you very much for your reply. I double checked the tag. Model 5 1001 6 Serial # 827110 I noticed that the tag was loose, like it was glued on. There should be rivets holding the tag on. The paint underneath the tag was nice and Red sort of preserved. I popped it off with a finger nail. So this looks like this trailer has the wrong tag. Any ideas on repairing. Jeff
WildHorses 432 #4 Posted July 9, 2012 Could you possibly find a (flimsy) newer dump cart that some one wants to get rid of cheap and use the rails off of that? I've not seen anyone do that but it might look better if you're a decent welder or know someone that is.
Kelly 1,033 #5 Posted July 9, 2012 Alot of the dump carts I have/had, had the tags glued on, in that spot even, it may have been a factory screw up, the decal tells me late 60's early 70's the tires and wheels look orig. it is a ruff one, cut away and make it usable how ever you see fit, better than it going in the scrap.
