How do I tell if I have a piston-to-piston or Hydrogear

I got this 1980 C125 parts tractor, (thanks to good RS member 'Cowboy')

book says some came with an Eaton and some came with a Sundstrand.

It must have been the year that they switched to Eaton and used up all of their Sundstrands first. (??)

Usually one can tell by looking at the side for the 'figure 8 or single hump'

But this one has the external brake drum on the outside and I don't know if it is a Hydrogear or a piston to piston model.

Can anybody tell by looking at the pictures?

Needless to say that I don't know a whole lot about these transmissions, I'm just tring to find a good one that works.

That is a sundstrand pump with a brake on the trans. I haven't seen to many of them. No lift for the implements, but should be able to be added.

I picked up a 74 C-160 parts tractor that had one of those in it. By the numbers it had it came off of a C-165. If you want to see how to test the trans to see if at least turns the wheels go here:

The hydro gears never to my knowledge had external brakes. The brake drum you have would only fit on the single shaft of a later piston to piston Sundstrand.

The best way to decide if you have a hydrogear is simple:

If the pump and motor sections of the transmission are one single casting, it's a hydrogear. If they are bolted together as yours is, it's a piston- piston version.

Not the best picture, but look to the left of this. You can see the entire pump and motor section (top and bottom halves) is a single casting. Yours are bolted together:
