Fordiesel69 271 #1 Posted July 8, 2012 You may ask why, Simple...... Someone took all the magnum parts off and began putting in the k series parts on and then found out there was no way to get spark. So now I basivally have a nice magnum shortblock with k series flywheel, tin, etc...... I wonder if the points lobe is in the block?
MarkPalmer 81 #2 Posted July 8, 2012 You have a few options. First, locate and install the correct Magnum ingition parts. (Sad to say, this will be the easiest option.) Second, IF the cam does have the points lobe on it, you will have to drill and cut threads in the block to mount points and a cover along with drilling a hole for the points pushrod. Then you set up a standard battery ignition system. Most electric start Magnums also had an integral alternator system to charge the battery so you would have to take that consideration in to account too if you want a charging system. Third, Brian Miller's site describes a way to fabricate a flywheel trigger points system for Magnums, but it doesn't sound all too easy to do. -Mark-
