lots of guys have had troubles with them, look for peaning on the end of the pin, guys hit them and then it peans(mushrooms),keep using the blaster and at least it will move, some are frozen so bad guys have had to cut through the case and pin to separate the tranny and then have it pressed out, keep working it with a bit of heat and lots of lube and it will come out

The fact that you've got any side-to-side movement is a very good sign. As Don suggests, keep working it with some heat and regular applications of Blaster and it will gradually loosen up. Lord knows most if not all of us have been where you're at with these things! :banghead:

How much side to side movement? It sounds like you may have it mushroomed out a little like was mentioned. If so, a file will help immensely. Do a search on the term hitch pin, there should be plenty of topics on removing them. Good luck.

If all else fails you could always drill the through the center of the pin (may take some time), and then put a hack-saw through the hole and cut through the remaining pin.

Once cut through it should release it's grip on the trans allowing it to be drifted out..

That's what I had to do to one of mine!

I gave up trying to bang it out. As said, the pin will mushroom on the ends. I used my sawzall and cut one end flush with the case. Then I was able to bang it through without mashing the end.

just cut it off. i turned the hitch all the way up then cut on either side of the hole it goes through on the trans. After that i just pushed it out with a large punch and hammer. Then go get a 3/4" bolt or hitch pin from TSC, clean out the old holes and put a little never sieze on it. frequent use of the tractor helps keep it loose as well, but if you are on this site, I'll assume you plan to use the tractor a fair bit ;)

I had the same problem....a little side to side movement. I used a small grinder to clean-up the "mushroomed" ends, kept putting the penetrating oil on and driving the pin back & forth with a punch on the pin. Each time, it moved farther & farther until it came out.

Be sure to put some anti seize on the pin when it is re-installed on this or any other tractor.
