Pollack Pete 2,273 #1 Posted July 1, 2012 Checked out the local C/L today like I do every day.I saw a 312-8 for sale about 45 minutes from me.It has a real nice 42 inch RD deck on it.it has a Kohler 12 magnum engine.The guy said he mowed twice with it this Summer,it ran fine,then he thinks he put bad gas in it and it wouldn't run any more.The Squaw and I went to get it.He was asking $375 for it.I offered $350 and he gave me a new set of Stens blades still in the box.I tried to start it when I got it home.Dead as a door nail.I checked the main fuse.It was blown.Put in a new fuse,covered the carb with my hand (choke cable siezed) and it fired right up.I mowed part of the back lawn with it.No issues.Scary part......the guy said he worked at a Wheel Horse dealer back in the 80's.Sure hope he wasn't a mechanic there. Hi Kelly.You've got good eyes.Thats a 1959 Mercury Monterey 2 door hardtop.And yes,I did buy the 312 without hearing it run.I guess the seller seemed honest????
