COMMANDO1 23 #2 Posted June 29, 2012 HI BACK FOR SURE.
bean 85 #3 Posted June 29, 2012 I like the low back. I have a high back and my grandson likes it better. it will just come down to your personal preference. they both look good. when it's hot, the high back makes my tractor sweaty. :)
fourwheels0 191 #4 Posted June 29, 2012 hhmm i didn't think about the sweaty high back. i'll have to think about that. all i do is plow (grader or snowblade). just trying to get it set up so it's as comfortable as i can. i also need to find a 16hp muffler. you can see it has i think an 8hp muffler on it now and it has an interior rattle (i think the baffle came loose) that drives me nuts lol. AMC RULES 36,963 #5 Posted June 29, 2012 Aesthetically speaking, I like the traditional look of the low back much better, betcha it's a pretty comfy ride with the spring mounts too. Plus...those high back seats always seem to get in the way of my running leap into the saddle. :)
fourwheels0 191 #6 Posted June 29, 2012 when i got the tractor it had the springs mounted backwards. i turned them around and i'll try it like that and see how it feels. if i like it i'll ditch the high back.
CasualObserver 3,406 #7 Posted June 29, 2012 I prefer the look of the lower seat. My only other comments would be a high seatback won't let you lean back for traction either. It does look comfortable though.
speedyleedy 205 #8 Posted June 29, 2012 I like the low back for sure ! :eusa-think:
fourwheels0 191 #9 Posted June 29, 2012 well it's gonna be the low back. i switched the springs in the right direction, bolted it down and it made a vast improvement. now it has the spring cushion like it's supposed to. plus like casualobserver said i can lean back if i need more traction. plus it's a new seat.
Ken B 3,116 #10 Posted June 29, 2012 Without a doubt the low back.
Jake Kuhn 1,547 #11 Posted June 29, 2012 I like the look of the low back much better. Jake
redhorse100 4 #12 Posted June 29, 2012 i also like the look of the low back on this style tractor. put the high back on the 300, 400, 500, series
SAM58 30 #13 Posted June 29, 2012 If just for looks, the High Back is best! :)
tarcoleo 119 #14 Posted June 29, 2012 Seat problems; high or low back, there just isn't enough spring or travel in standard springs to suit my back. I have replaced the seat with a u-spring--about six inches between arms--attached to a perforated steel implement seat (no back) and enjoy the baby buggy ride. Suitable springs of this type are usually from JD's and are sold in pairs commonly on EB. One spring is just right for me (145 lbs.) can whlvr 991 #15 Posted June 30, 2012 i have the same high back seat on my 308,its comfortable but i too like the low back look
Zeek 2,284 #16 Posted June 30, 2012 I like the high back for a nice change the way you have it. If you were doing a resto, I'd say the low.
boovuc 1,090 #17 Posted June 30, 2012 My vote.........................................Low Back! :)
squonk 39,363 #18 Posted June 30, 2012 I like the high backs. I bought a real nice adj. seat that has good support and it is the best $100 I ever spent! No more back aches after mowing or feelling every little bump!
massey 118 #19 Posted June 30, 2012 My preference would be the low back.
varosd 1,185 #20 Posted June 30, 2012 for looks, Low back. my B-80 has the low back saddle......... although the high back on my 520 is real cushy for the tushy
546cowboy 301 #21 Posted July 1, 2012 I prefer the high back myself on a working tractor and if it has armrests, I'm really happy. If you are building fancy show tractors then you go with the original style. Who says you can't lean back with the high back seat? I always do.
smoreau 658 #22 Posted July 1, 2012 I would like to say that my favorite seat is a mid back seat. Has enough support and I can lean back also. I know this is not what you have to chose from, but that is my choice. High backs are nice, but they do get quite warm in the summer months.
neil 2,398 #23 Posted July 1, 2012 without a shadow of dougbt it would be the Low back for me even though i have back troubles i still prefer the comfort & look that it gives me Just my opinion one thing i really dont like to see is the seats that are taken out of cars and then put on the tractors ,that looks real awful
JC 1965 1,528 #24 Posted July 1, 2012 Well i like the look of the low back but i have high backs on all of mine. I have some very serious back problems and i need all the back support i can get. :thumbs2:
Rooster 191 #25 Posted July 3, 2012 If your gonna pitch that High Back Slider, Pitch it this way.... I like the looks of a Low Back, but getting to that age where I appreciate some support!
