semlin 0 #1 Posted June 26, 2012 hi folks, just joined. first time wheel horse owner here. by some very good luck i first bought a johnson 10tc loader that had come off a charger 12 and then, before i could modify the frame it to fit a john deere (which looked like a lot of work), a charger 12 showed up for sale. so i have it installed and working but some questions / issues due to the fact the loader came off a newer model charger with a different hood design. 1. the pto double pulley on my charger has the small pulley (4.5" od) on the outside so the larger pulley (5.5") lines up with the loader pump pulley (6"). is the double pulley reversible? the belt the loader came with indicates either the pto pulley location changed on later charger models or the the loader pump was running on a smaller pto pulley than it is now. i got a longer belt to fit but i am having some loader lift power issues that might be caused by rpms. 2. does anyone have a photo of the hood hinge bracket on later model chargers or a possible source for one? the loader frame only fits my model if you remove the bracket on the front of the tractor that has the hood pin hinge holes and the tow loop on it. i will fabricate one if i need to, but it would be nice to find the correct part. also, the hood is slightly too wide for the loader frame uprights, which i will have to fix by grinding the loader frame uprights.. 3. does anyone have a suggestion for a muffler? the exhaust is basically open pipe and it is loud! clintonnut 126 #2 Posted June 26, 2012 Put an older hood on it and you will have to cut the sides off a front tach a matic and weld tabs on for the hood hinge bolt. It would take care of the fitment issues. Little fabrication but it would work.

Little fabrication but it would work. thanks, but what is a "front tach a matic"? i don't really want to cut and weld since i can fabricate a bracket pretty easily with two 90 degree bends. i was just hoping to find a later hinge bracket i could bolt on. Sweeet looking horse! Those rear tires and wheel weights are thank you. the wheel weights are 6 bolt and the rims take 4 bolt so i only have them held on with two bolts. on the bright side they are very heavy weights and i have a plan to make them more secure. You have a nice set-up there. You will get the hood issue figured out! thank you. the only implement i got with the tractor is the same blade as the one in your photo. i was planning on converting it to mount on the loader arms and to use the lift piston to pivot the blade. Kelly 1,033 #7 Posted June 27, 2012 Post a picture of the mount bracket you need, your tractor looks like the later style and all the bracets you find will be the same, so like I said post a pic of the issue I'm sure we can help after that, I have a small GT salvage yard mostly WH if you need something. sorekiwi 761 #8 Posted June 28, 2012 Welcome to Red Square! I'd love to see some pics of what your subframe looked like, I've never seen a "real" Wheel Horse/Johnson subframe. I'm in the process of putting one on a 1276, here are some pics of the early style hood with the early hinge arrangement, and how it fits with my front support: (My Johnson 10 is a slightly different model than yours, it has the single dump cylinder in the middle of the two loader arms). On the earlier tractors the bottom part of the hinge is part of the frame, but I dont see why you couldnt make similar brackets to mount on your front attach-a-matic (which is the hook thingy on the front of the frame that accepts front mounted implements). I havent built my exhaust yet, but I am going to do something similar to the B and C series tractors: As far as the PTO is concerned - do you need to run it at all? Maybe take it off the tractor and run the loader pump all the time with an appropriate sized pulley on the crank?
