1969 5 2362 MOWER DECK

Recommended Posts

Woody

I have a 1967 1257 WH tractor with a 1969 2 2362 36' rear discharge mower deck. The deck belts that drive the shafts that drive the 2 blades have broken. I have replacement belts , but would like some guidance as to how to go about putting the belts on. What do I take off first? It seems like I need to remove the gear cover and then possibly the bracket that holds the shaft so can get the belts on the pulleys and then onto the PTO pulleys. Any assistance in this procedure would be greatlt appreciated. I also have a 1976 C 120 with a 48" side discharge deck. This is very easy to change the belts on. I have only had the 1967 1257 for about 1 year and this is the first time I have had to replace these belts. PLEASE HELP!!!!! Thank you.

Charlie

If this deck is a gear drive deck, After taking off the gear covers there are 2 threaded shafts that run front to back. They have lock nuts you loosen and you turn the shafts in to bring the pulleys closer. Then there are like 6 bolts that hold the main shaft and housing to the deck. You have to take off the 3 on the belt side and at least loosen the other side. They are probably pretty rusted and you might as well get them all off. Then the pulleys, shaft housing ect lifts off from the deck and you can get the belts under the bearing tower and onto the pulleys. When you put it back together, the blades have to be 90 deg apart.

I thought for a bit for a good title and still don't know how best to phase it...  Second best Wheel Horse forum?   ??

A couple years ago I scoured the Internet for Wheel Horse info and while I certainly found other forums and I certainly gathered Wheel Horse info elsewhere I settled down here and I'd say 99 percent of the time I stay here. Comfortable, great info, great guys, lots of pictures and I truly believe that this is Wheel Horse Central!  But I was wondering, do any of you cheat?  A little?  Do you wonder off at night and return in the early morning hours to visit other sites?  Sometimes just to look around?  I KNOW some of you do!

Does anyone have any good pictures of where the throttle and choke cable goes on my 753? I'm thinking one runs over the head and the other goes under the engine shround but I can't remember for sure. Any pics or help is appreciated. Also does the little hooked spring on the govenor arm go through the notch on this disc? Thanks in advance.

I went to start my 856 this morning to plow snow and I noticed the rear end was locked up (again). I took the shifter out and looked in the hole. There was no rust. And the I took a large screwdriver and tried to move the forks. They moved. Im all out of ideas. does anyone know what could be wrong with it?
