brake shoe glue and clutch issues wh b80

Hi all,

I am the guy who was getting 8 speed transmission help a couple weeks back.

Thanks to Mike, I got my tranny back together and on the tractor a wheel horse b80

Ran into a couple problems. All is well except two things..

The brake pad material or strip of rubber inside the brake spring that goes around brake pulley on tranny is loose and comes out. Still thick and has some life. Can you glue these back in. If so, what kinda glue

Second problem really confused me. You can put in the clutch when it is in gear and the belt slips on the motor so you can change gears... HOWEVER, when in neutral, you can't get it to stop! I have the guard off to watch it. Belt still catches enough in neutral to spin the tranny and make it where you can't change gears. Is the side guard part of this.... and having it off is causing problems. Maybe that's it.... Yall chime in....

I really apprecaite all this group had done for me. Trying to get this mower ready as a butt buggy at an engine show in less than two weeks. Almost there I hope....

Yes, you can glue the brake band material back on. I use 3M super weatherstip adhesive, but there are many heavt duty glues that would work just fine. As far as your belt issue, did it have the problem with the belt cover on? The belt cover has to be there to rub the belt when the clutch is pushed in, so the belt can stop. Look at your cover, and make sure the tab at the front that is next to the engine pulley is not boken off, or bent up to where it doesn't make contact. :twocents-02cents:

Oops, :hide: I just read your post more completely, and yes the cover has to be there.
