1972Bronco14 0 #1 Posted June 13, 2012 Hi. I am trying to fix up my father's 1972 Bronco 14 for him which he purchased new a long time ago. One of the mower deck's spindle housings is broken. I haven't had any luck finding a replacement. The tag on the 48" mower deck says 5-1201. The spindle appears to be made of aluminum and is about 3.5" tall. Any ideas of where I can locate a good one? Thanks! Rob
Don1977 605 #2 Posted June 14, 2012 If the deck matches the same year as the tractor I would guess its a Double D. I have a couple of them. If it's a later model like the 3/4" keyed or the newer 17 mm Metric the alum. housings are the same. I don't have any of them I used the last one myself. The Double D has a ball bearing at the top and needle bearings at the bottom. If this is what you need send me a PM.
1972Bronco14 0 #3 Posted June 14, 2012 Thank you. I'll take another look at the spindle housing tonight. The deck is also a '72 since the entire tractor is original.
Forest Road 594 #4 Posted June 15, 2012 I just stripped a 48" deck. It had the newer style spindles. PM me if interested.
1972Bronco14 0 #5 Posted June 15, 2012 Thanks. Here is the spindle I'm looking to replace. It does appear to be a "Double-D". Is this the early, or later style?
