1973auto12 0 #1 Posted June 11, 2012 Just recently the fuel shut off valve started leaking something on the odor of one drop per second when open. Do these wear out with time and need to be replaced, or is there a fix? Looking at it now, there is the small rubber seal gasket. Just replace that or the entire petcock valve? There is some play in the threads.
Dockfishin 51 #2 Posted June 11, 2012 A new grommet and shutoff valve is pretty cheap. they have them on ebay or at toro. was like 15 bucks for both from dealer near me If I remember right. you'll want a new grommet for sure when replacing the shutoff. assuming you're talking the common tank under the rear pan, not familiar with other ones
1973auto12 0 #3 Posted June 12, 2012 Thanks, yeah replaced it with a plastic one for $6. Seems good. Would have been nice to keep it original though. I'd be interested if there is an OEM style frame mounted replacement that anyone knows of. Thx again.

1973auto12 0 #5 Posted June 12, 2012 That's exactly what I was wondering. I will look for an o ring. The original looks much better than the plastic one ziptied on. Thanks.
