Straight 30 is what I use in all my Kohlers. Just pick your favorite brand

If there is significant wear in the motor no oil will truely help... Kohler calls for striaght 30. Keep it topped off and change when applicable. Rebiuld or replace when the time comes.

Well said. There is no such thing as a "rebuild in the can type oil or oil additive".

The time for rebuilding my K-341 came about a week ago and it is in the machine shop now:)

i agree with everyone straight 30W oil. a good choice is rotella T oil. available at tsc for about $14.-15. a gallon. Rotella T is a diesel oil and is API graded for gas engines as well. because its primary use is diesel engines it contains high levels of zinc. zinc is an anti-wear additive. won't help with past wear issues but, will help that old kohler last as long as possible. regards mike in mass.

I have a 1998 314-8, the tractor manual say's straight 30w, but the engine manual say's 10w30, I went with Quaker State 10w30 full synthetic, not sure if I did a good thing, or a bad thing .....

In the early 70's I had a classmate that used "Liquid Overhaul" in his VW Beetle engine almost every week! (Really didn't help)
