Gas Cap Gaskets

Recommended Posts

rmaynard

The gasket in my gas cap on my Commando 8 is cracked and no longer sealing. Is anyone aware of a replacement gasket? The overall size is +/- 1-11/16" OD x 1-1/16" ID x 1/8" thick.

Thanks for your help!

I cut a new one for my Daughters 857 same cap, I used cork, not sure how thick it was, but I had some from a car engine gasket set I used.

Upon closer inspection, the original is cork. I'm just wondering if a new part is still available. I know that I can get a whole new cap for under $6.00, but my cap is fine, just need a seal.

You can make one out of any material that is not affected by gas. I had a scrap off a new drawing board cover that I made one out of.don't know if it is rubber or vinyl, it has worked great.

I've got the same problem. The cork I've found is not dense enough. I'm looking for a rubber product. I'm interested to know what everyone else has.
