dcrage 630 #1 Posted May 29, 2012 All the time I have spent reading Red Square came thru for me this weekend It turned out to not be anything big but ...... -- I was 200 miles away from home doing lawn work (mowing/trimming) around my Dad's farm house this past weekend -- I try to start my 310-8 (just as an aside I can't get my 418-A with the 42" deck onto my 4' X 7' trailer, deck is 2" too wide; guess I need a new trailer with a rear ramp) to finish mowing Saturday PM and nothing (thats never happened in the 20 years I have had this tractor, other than when I blew the 25 amp fuse a couple years ago when I had the dash apart without disconnecting the battery) -- I start to run thru the litiney electrical/starting issues I have read here (selinoid, starter, weak battery, interlocks) and thinking how now I am really going to have to understand some of SOI's tutorials -- But I can hear the clock on the hour meter running and the lights come on, so I think the battery must be OK -- Bang on the selinoid a couple of times to no avail -- Then I decide I want to find the clutch interlock (never seen that switch before) -- I know it needs to be 'working' correctly to start the tractor -- So I pull of the cover plate for the gear shift and see the switch over by the drive belt -- I make sure the wires are well plugged into the switch and then try to get the starter to engage -- Success!!! Thanks Red Square
