Need some input on Price for a 520H

I have located a 1988 520H. It does have a 48 deck and it runs pretty good. It has been stored in a barn with a dirt floor, so the deck shell is shot. The tractor runs good with no signs of mechanical problems. But it has not been very well cared for. I bet it has not seen soap and water in years. It has 700 hr showing on the meter. The tires flat but he says they will be fine with new values. What do you all think it's value would be? I am a mechanic, so a little elbow grease doesn't bother me at all. Your input is appreciated. B)

It is difficult to determine someone else's value on a particular machine.

My guess would be about $300 to $500 in the condition you described.

The $300 to $500 is not far from the numbers in my head. I was thinking maybe as up to $600 to $750. I realize what Im asking for here without having any pictures etc. Im just trying to get some kind of feeling for it's pricing. Akron Ohio area.

An '88 model will not have the good gear reduction steering, etc. Also, if the dirt floor rusted out the deck, it also had an affect on the rest of the machine as well. There is probably rust forming in places you haven't seen yet.

My uncle here in MI. just a couple of weeks ago, picked up a 89 520 with 48" deck running and mowing with 650 hours looks good, not great, runs very nice, the guy was asking $450 he got it for $375, I think it was a fair deal.

IMO walk away if it's as bad as you say. That would be a fair price in nice shape, with a good deck ready to use.

My questions are why is it sitting in a barn with a dirt floor & flat tires.

Must be a reason it's collecting barn dust & not getting maintanace.

For $1300...walk away & keep looking...there will be more.

Well I didn't walk away! I RAN! I will wait until next year and maybe then buy it for what it's worth. I will find a nice unit soon enough. Thanks everyone for your input.
