Electric Horse

Recommended Posts

Anybody heard of an electric horse? Supposed to be a Elec Trac C185 with a 42" electric front mounted deck, hand held hedge trimmers, inpact and another tool that plug into the tractor. The deck looks to be mounted with lift cylinders. Everything looks to be in excellent shape. On craigslist in traverse city mi.

I don't know about all the attachments, but yes they did make electric :wh:'s! I've seen them before, but in pictures only.

I saw that ad too. It's looks like it's really nice shape. I looked onto the "All years Wheel Horse" document and it lists the C185 model starting from 1975 to 1977.

The attachments are what are worth good money......those are not easy to come by.

I have a newer version of the "Electric Wheel Horse" one of them is a black hood........E-141 and the other is a rear engine rider style E-81 both produced in the early 80's

Well after looking at the posting, that is one nice looking machine. I would ask some questions in regards to the condition and age of the batteries. That is the downfall with these electric machines as when you need to replace them......be prepared to pay and pay dearly. As far as a price.......well I am cheap so I can't really say. But I would say you really couldn't go wrong with that one.

Try contacting the individual and ask them to throw out a price and report back and we can go from there.

I've been watching the same CL add. My concerns were the battery condition and how often they would need to be replaced (and at what cost). Its a beautiful machine   but those batteries  ??

Well I can say that the 6 deep cycle 12 volt batteries that mine required came in just under $500.

Well, if you need a hood for one, there is one on ebay right now:

I like the idea of a battery powered tractor, but lead acid batteries have a lot of negatives.

Would be great to install Ni-Fe batteries and not have to worry about them for the next 50 years.
