belt gaurds

I have these two belt gaurds. One is on my 400 and the other is on my 401 but one of them has one less hole in it.post-3463-0-50967500-1336432458_thumb.jppost-3463-0-28430800-1336432522_thumb.jp Do you see what I am talking about.

why does one have three holes and one have two. Did the 60's have one less hole than the 61's. I have three of these belt gaurds and one has the two holes and the other two have three holes like the one in the pictures above. Just wondered why that was. thanks

Not sure.. looks like an original hole? One of my 400's have NO cross stamp. That was another topic/thread and turns out it was a very early model 400.

my uncle used to fall asleep on the assembly line when he used to work / sleep at wheel horse yrs ago just kidding i,ve seen over the years many holes, and stamping wrong alot of fan gears misalinged yours could be just a simple mistake or maybe its holes for sickle bar mounting check attachments manuals may show what u need u.s.m.c.
