dstoots 0 #1 Posted May 6, 2012 I have a rear discharge deck with 2 belts from front pulley to blade pulley. How do I replace belts?
squonk 43,819 #2 Posted May 6, 2012 Are we talking about an old gear drive deck?
squonk 43,819 #4 Posted May 7, 2012 On the 2 rods that go from front to back there are 2 lock nuts. You loosen them and turn the rods in. That brings the pulleys together to loosen the belts. After taking the gear covers off there 6 bolts that hold all the frame work onto the deck shell. They need to come off and will probably be rusted. Once off you can get the belts off from around the bearing stand. After you get the new belts on you have to have the blades 90 deg from each other to prevent them from hitting each other and set the gears back into the spindle gears. Put the frame bolts back in and adjust the rods evenly to tension the belt. GET LOTS OF RAGS!!!
dstoots 0 #5 Posted May 7, 2012 Thanks, that was what I needed. I'll get my wd40 and start the job.
