Hodge71 665 #1 Posted May 3, 2012 SCORE 1 FOR ME!!! I have no idea what theyre from and neither did the guy I bought them from but I can tell you they fit my 18 auto front rims. All I'm going to do is either chuck them up in the lathe or find the proper size holesaw and hog out the center so that you can gain access to the grease caps for the front axle. They were on and they went off before I read my watched item warning. There were no bids on them so I contacted the guy and asked him if hed do $35 with shipping which was his opening bid. He told me $45 with shipping so here they are. They weigh 27 pounds apeice and all they need is the centers hogged out and Valspar IH red paint. Anybody have any idea what kind of tractor they came from?
Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted May 3, 2012 Those are MTD, they fit the rears on mowers with 8" rims or fronts with 8" rims, they fit the deep front rims but will not fit the older narrow rims, you got a good deal, I've sold many of them for $75 a set, in fact I have 3 sets right now. I've never cut the ceters on mine I used a set for a few years on a older 520 with a blower, oh they will not fit the 520 with the forwad swept axle the rim hub is to big. dsholler 54 #3 Posted May 3, 2012 Kelly, while we are on the subject, I need some weights for my 414... I do not really care what they look like (It is a worker) but I have no idea which ones will fit..and I do not have a workshop here where I could modify any old thing I got to work.. is there some method for figuring out whether a set of weights will work? Kelly 1,033 #4 Posted May 3, 2012 You need front or rear weights??? rears for the most part will all interchange from 12" rims no mater what brand, your 414 has or should have the wide rims on the front, and most any weight will fit for a 8" rim even the plastic rear weights off a MTD, craftsman ect...... they will be a bit bulky but non the less will bolt right on, I have both front and rear weights that will fit your tractor if your interested send me a PM

Hodge71 665 #8 Posted May 5, 2012 Andy I think I have ADD. I think about everything all the time...I think thats why I have 6 tractors and only 2 work. Hopefully this week the 18 auto will hold my attention. Buth then again James is coming up for me to weld his deck, I have Schnake parts for an RJ to put on, wheel weights to mod and paint.....lol
CRE1992 135 #9 Posted May 5, 2012 Would you be able to flip the rim around so that the grease zerk is on the inside? or is the spacing different? Either way it looks good! Congrats on the good find. Then it might save you a trip to the lathe, or drill press. Also I know where to get another set of those brand new for cheap if your interested. -Charles
AMC RULES 37,196 #10 Posted May 5, 2012 Another nice score Jeff. Isn't hogging out the centers going to remove much of the weight you're trying to add? I'm just sayin'. :dunno:
Sparky-(Admin) 23,150 #11 Posted May 5, 2012 Didnt you look at the pictures Craig ? In the pics showing the back of the weights the center is allready hollow so only a thin layer would need to be removed from the face of the weight. The set I have (same exact weights) had the center removed. Mike........
AMC RULES 37,196 #12 Posted May 5, 2012 Indeed I did look...the outside, faceplate of that weight looks to be about 1/2 to 3/4" thick, and probably 3" in diameter will be removed, correct? I'm thinking a 27# weight will turn into a 25# weight, all said and done. Did you weigh your's after the modification Mike? :scratchead:
Sparky-(Admin) 23,150 #13 Posted May 5, 2012 Mine came on a WH and were all ready modified so I dont know the before and after weight. The center hole is about 1.5" - 2" on mine and I dont think its anywhere near 2lbs of material removed. And if it was 2lbs per weight you would never notice it while using them on a tractor.
