I have a 1973 c-160 with a older 14 hp kohler. The dipstick tube does not stay in place. is ther a way to secure it. I can pull it right out.

Hi, Yes there is , you'll need to remove the Tube and the Casting it pushes into from the engine. Completely de-grease the 2 joints and apply your Brand of Epoxy Resin (JB Weld?) to both parts. Fit them back together and remove the excess Epoxy inside........Give it 24hrs to harden and it will be fine.

I might try cleaning it good with brake cleaner and trying some RED locktite on the tube. Shove it in, let it set up and you shouldn't have to take the bottom off to clean the excess out. JMO.
