D250 question

Recommended Posts

parsprite

Hi All

First of all, I've restored a few tractors, through the years and I'm thinking of getting my friend's D250.

However, I want to work around the yard with.

But, I need to get a loader for it. (I know I won't find one so I'll probably have to build one)

I getting too old to shovel all time, so I need a tractor to hall mulch, compost, crushed rock, etc.

So, will this thing be up to task?

Thanks

Perry

It is a beast of a tractor with 2 draw backs, no power steering not a real big deal, and parts for them are getting very hard to find, even new is tough, I know where one is with about every implement they made even a loader, but it is setting over a year because the distributor is bad and the dealer, a very good dealer can't find one new or used.

If you're ever in the state of Nebraska (or close to it) I have a snow blower and front blade for it....and maybe a loader of a fellow RS member passes on it (that is if I ever get around to getting a shipping quote for him).... I will.....eventually

Thanks Everyone

I think I'll go with it..........I think I can get the tractor for about $800, with the snow thrower and mower deck.

I'm in Massachusetts, so I think Nebraska is a bit of a hike.

I've been looking around and I can't find a loader around here.

But, I have my own shop and I'm a pretty good machinist & welder, so I think I'll buy the PF Engineering plans and build a loader for it.

Thanks again!

Perry

Thanks for welcome, guys!

I haven't picked up the tractor yet.

When I do, I'll post some pics...............I think I'm going to like this forum.

I play with Brit cars and brew beer...............may as well throw a tractor or two in the mix!

If you can play with British cars, you can handle anything life throws at you!

Do you have John Lucas on speed dial? :ychain:

the 250 wasnt built by wheelhorse, its a gutbroad, sorry if i spellrd it wrong, but they are from europe, and as kelly said they are very hard to get any parts for them, another option would be an actual wheelhorse, like a 520,or a 400 series,or even a c series, not too put down the 250,were just giving you the low down

the distributor is bad and the dealer, a very good dealer can't find one new or used.

I don't know what is wrong with the distributor, but on many engines you can swap a dizzy from another type of motor. How easy this is depends upon whether the motor has a shaft that can be easily adapted, might need to see a machinist. Some electronc versions can be adapted too.
