Pollack Pete 2,273 #1 Posted April 26, 2012 I'm looking for an ignition coil for a K-321 14 horse Kohler with breakerless ignition.I guess the part number is 236826-S.I've found quite a few online, but the price scares me.$165.00 to well over $200.00. I have an old NAPA catalog and can't seem to find this coil there. All I see is the coil for point ignition.Anyone here have a less expensive alternative for this coil? I'm having a hard time justifying a 199 dollar coil on a 200 dollar tractor. Thanks for any and all info.
oldredrider 2,547 #2 Posted April 26, 2012 The "cheap" fix is to convert it over to a points ignition. You can buy a LOT of points for the price of that coil.
pfrederi 17,155 #3 Posted April 26, 2012 Agree with above. Even if you get a coil then there is the possibility the trigger could be bad also more big bucks. You will need to change out you ignition switch get a coil, points, cover and plunger. The hole for the points plunger is in your block (filled with a welch or freeze plug.
