753 carb question...

Recommended Posts

Shuboxlover

I FINALLY got around to fixing my gas tank so it doesn't leak anymore. I put a new head gasket in it and took the carb off and cleaned it really well. The thing ran GREAT before i took the carb off, but now, at idle; the thing "hunts". I have rebuilt at least a half dozen Kohler carbs before and never had this problem. I adjusted the governor and set both needles to the preliminary settings.

What should I do/check now?

Thanks

Tyson

Try setting the choke a little bit, if that helps you have a piece of dirt in the carb. try cleaning it again.

I did pull the choke out a bit and it seemed to help.....guess I'll take the carb back off.

Thanks Kelly, I'll let you know what I find...but of course, I have to get a new starter/generator belt as mine gave up the ghost.

I don't know when I'll have time to do this stuff...REALLY busy time of year for me.

Try that first, it might be leaking air.

Kelly...................YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As is was running, I sprayed carb cleaner near the base of the carb/block and it almost died.....sure sign of a leak. I put a new gasket in it and it puuuuuuuurs like a kitten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're the man!!!!!!!!!!

THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
