fishingstararlake 1 #1 Posted April 17, 2012 I have a 520 with the 20 hp onan that has a small tic around the carb. the motor has just over 900 hours. fishingstararlake 1 #5 Posted April 18, 2012 I didn't know about the valve adjustment. I'm good with atvs, bikes and sleds. how hard is it to the valves? just in could be a exhaust like bowtie said it started ticing in about 15 feet. back to the valves they need to be done. anybody have instructions on how to adjust the valves and what they should be set at. thanks Dan Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The engine manual is here: The valves are pretty easy to set once you get to them, they have a screw adjuster on them so you just do it like a normal automobile engine. fishingstararlake 1 #8 Posted April 26, 2012 Talked to the local toro dealer and he said that it sounded like it is carbon. He gave me some decarboning spary. Yesterday I tied it the tick stoped mowed my yard it never came back. So yes I need to do the valves but was the cabon causing a hot spot or what? What should the max rpm be?
