v-belt size?

Recommended Posts

kpinnc

Trying to find the size of the drive belt on my Bronco. Manual shows it as part #7478, but says nothing of the size. None of my online parts places list the size either. Anybody know?

The belt that is on the Bronco slips really bad. I assume that it was an aftermarket replacement, as it is too narrow to get a good grip on the sides of the pulleys.

Just wanted to have the right measurements to be sure on the replacement...

Hey Gator I got 5/8" x 84" by going here and then clicking on the aftermarket available link. It listed the size of the belt. Hope this helps B)

Buzz

Interesting to note that the aftermarket belt, on sale, was $2.00 more than the OEM............. B)

TT

This will get lost again, but under the "Wheel Horse Links" under "Parts Suppliers", you will find a link to "John F. Vining Belt information" which translates most WH belt part numbers to the length/width sizes. B)

I had Karl put it there a long time ago, and even I forgot it was there.

Can anyone point me toward the link discussed in the above thread? I get nowhere searching for it.

Thanks,

Steve

This is an 8 year old thread. Link is gone. I search Google with the Toro part number and many times I will find a replacement belt with the size listed. Good luck.

Tractor Supply usually has Huskee Kevlar belts on the shelf. The belt you need $25.00.

Never had a problem with these belts. FYI. Green belts are oil resistant.

Currently, Kevlar has many applications, ranging from bicycle tires and racing sails to body armor, because of its high tensile strength-to-weight ratio; by this measure it is 5 times stronger than steel.

V-belts may be homogeneously rubber or polymer throughout, or there may be fibers embedded in the rubber or polymer for strength and reinforcement. The fibers may be of textile materials such as cotton, polymide (such as nylon) or polyester or, for greatest strength, of steel or aramid (such as Kevlar).

I label the sleeve with Magic Marker and staple gun 'em to the shop wall; i.e.: 520-8 Drive Belt, 416-8 Drive Belt, 48" Mower Deck, etc. Quick reference at-a-glance.
