Kelly 1,033 #1 Posted April 7, 2012 Well it's been a bit for me buying anything much, but the past few days I've made up for it, I picked up a 81 C-125 auto, it is ugly and I bought it with out hearing it run, at some point in it's life it had a new Kohler 12hp installed, but I'm sure it was sometime ago, it came with a pretty fair no holes 42" SD deck, wheel weights, New 23x10.5x12 tires never mounted, new tires on the front, and a bag of New parts he bought in 06 the bag was still stapled shut with the receipt in it he paid $186 for the parts, I got it home and started it and it runs great, hydro is strong my son drove it and I drove it, I even mowed some with it, it needs some TLC but it's a solid start, I think it's going up for sale after some minor tinkering. My son going for a test run. The C 125 at some point was owned by the Sanitarium hospital in Battle creek where I bought it. I stopped by the local junk yard fri. after work and spotted a ugly, ugly WH, rattle canned green and black, sweet boat seat, missing a few parts, but mostly there, it has some big 23x10.5 tires on wide Cub rims on it, well I opened the hood to see a 16hp Kohler, ended up being a 74 C-160 8 speed, so it came home with me, I got it running, smokes on start up and hard throttle up, so I'm sure it uses some oil, but runs good, I haven't drove it yet to check the trans out, and while I was shopping there I spotted a JD pedal tractor I had to pick up for my son, he collects pedal tractors it's not complete but was cheep and what is there is very nice with no broken or worn castings. Then the junk yard in the next town over called me to say they had a WH tiller in, I was at work so I had my oldest son check it out, when he was there he called to tell me about a Massey Ferguson there with a 3 point hitch, and wheel weights with chains it was ruff, but they made me a good deal, I just have to take back what I don't want, well it has a replacement 14hp Kohler in it, I got it running after cleaning out a TON of mouse nest, in fact it would not even turn over at first, but it now runs like a top no smoke, a very nice engine it is even the block that will except both style oil pans a big bonus, it is even the 1 1/8" crank like a WH, me and my youngest son spent the day farting with tractors and stripping the MF of all the good parts, I think he had a blast helping, in fact I let him do most of it, he's getting pretty good at it, even learning his bolt sizes. Is the steering wheel in the photo of parts a splined or a pinned steering wheel? Looking for one for my 18 auto, that one looks to be in good condition. Is it for sale if so? Thank you
Kelly 1,033 #11 Posted April 8, 2012 The C-160 is going to be parts, it is rough, sheet metal junk, frame rusted bad under batt. tray, wiring is not there just wires run to a few switches that don't work, I hot wired it, the tiller is parts, the input shaft is bent, but I have another parts tiller I might make one out of them, at least it came with the idler pulleys, the MF is stripped clean, ready to go back to the junk pile, the C-125 is going to get cleaned up and sold, my son Ryan has a restored 74 B-100 auto, here is a pic of him winning another first place trophy with it, he has 3 first places now. and PMs sent on the steering wheel and the White tractor
