byoung36 18 #1 Posted April 4, 2012 I purchased a 518H yesterday an I am having trouble getting it runnig. I have check the compression I have 120 on the front cylinder an about 118 on the rear cylinder. I have cleaned the carb so I have good fuel flow. I have put in new plugs and am getting good fire. When I try to start it it will hit every now an then an back fire. I thing it could be something to do with the timing but I never messed with an onan much and don't know where to start looking or how to check. I would appreciate any help at all. byoung36 18 #3 Posted April 6, 2012 Thanks Jim I pulled the flywheel tonight an the key is in good shape. I believe that there is a crank sensor on this engine. how do I check to make sure that it is good or bad. Thanks Brian
byoung36 18 #4 Posted April 7, 2012 I finally got the 518 running. The ignition rotor was not lined up with the key on the crank shaft.
