bo dawg 518 #1 Posted April 4, 2012 I probably screwed up tonight, went farther than I wanted to going after a tractor that I thought was a C-160-8 speed with a good 32" deck. But it ended up being an "SK-486-8 speed" with a wore out 32" deck. What the heck is SK-486 all about?? Don't know much about this model. It has a sweet running 16 K and good 8 speed trans the tractor has been used to cut grass last 8 years. But looks like rode hard and put up wet. Needs lot of TLC and some nuts and bolts here and there. I drove farther than I wanted to, thought it was an hour away when I said I wanted it, but ended up being over 2 hrs. So since I drove that far I wasn't going home with out it. I'll have to get pictures tomorrow, to late tonight.
Sparky-(Admin) 23,282 #2 Posted April 4, 2012 32" deck? I thought the smallest deck made for the "C" series (thats what your new machine is) was a 36" deck in either a rear or side discharge. Next up would be the 37", then 42", and 48". Mike............
bo dawg 518 #3 Posted April 4, 2012 It probably is a 36" at least it looked like it but I didn't check. The PO said it was a 32" so I just went with it. I just unloaded the trailer shut the garage door and came in the house. I'll check it out tomorrow. I just wanted to learn more about the different model. What does the SK 486 mean? SAM58 30 #5 Posted April 4, 2012 Bowtie here on the forum has one in mint condition, he can tell you all about them. I think it will be a 1982 model with a Kohler engine.
bo dawg 518 #6 Posted April 4, 2012 Yes it is a 82 with a sweet running 16hp Kohler. I just want to know what the heck SK means and the 486?
tgranthamfd 29 #7 Posted April 4, 2012 Picked this out from a post, a couple of weeks ago. It is a break down of the odd numbered tractors of that year. Heres a little more info for the over load, although not set in stone but the numbers were also for the deck that it was suppose to sell with it. SB 371 37" deck Briggs 11hp SB 421 42" deck Briggs 11hp SK 486 48" deck Kohler 16hp
