Wheelhorse84 87 #1 Posted March 20, 2012 What years did they make the c-145 8spd?
Wheelhorse84 87 #3 Posted March 20, 2012 thank you. They still had the heavy duty rear end?
stevasaurus 23,303 #4 Posted March 20, 2012 Not sure about the heavy duty part, but the trans is #103916 and this was used on all the "C" series from 1978-1982. :)
Sparky-(Admin) 23,284 #5 Posted March 21, 2012 I'm almost positive they have the 8-pinion with a 1-1/8" axle. Mike............
Docwheelhorse 2,740 #6 Posted March 21, 2012 I am willing to say on this forum that the "regular/light duty 4 pinion 1" axle 8 speed" will hold up to ANYTHING short of an all out race ready high horsepower pulling setup with tons of traction/wheel lock situation. I wouldn't buy or not buy a tractor based on the rear axle...... I truly think all of the talk that goes on about the only transaxle worth anything being the 1 1/8 8 pinion is a bunch of BS. Just my 1 1/2 cents Tony

tgranthamfd 29 #8 Posted March 21, 2012 My brother and myself have both bought tractors that ran on water with about a tablespoon of lube in the tranny's, for god only knows how long, cleaned them out really good and put the gear oil in them. They are both still working fine. The Wheel Horse transaxles are second to none. Both were 8 speeds and I don't even pay any attension to the pinion or the axle size. They are just plane tough. oldredrider 2,553 #10 Posted March 22, 2012 Tony, I'm with you on this. My 4 pinion 1" axle trans has held up just as well as my 8 pinion 1 1/8 axle transmission. Both have been "torture tested" to the extreme and passed all challenges. I have yet to see either one break unless "abused". Period
Docwheelhorse 2,740 #11 Posted March 22, 2012 "Abuse" is a a relative word LOL.... even a WWII Sherman doesn't like seeing a German Tiger with an 88mm coming over the hill! (Both being the work horse tanks of the day...) Tony
