rmaynard 15,949 #1 Posted March 17, 2012 The rubber mounts on my Delco regulator are broken. Does anyone have a source for these type of parts?
dclarke 4,076 #2 Posted March 17, 2012 I have a couple old regulators here Bob, If you can't find new ones I could try to take them off of one.
Martin 2,133 #3 Posted March 17, 2012 bob, i was wondering the same thing. i looked for quite a while but couldnt find any such animal. you could probably find some comparable rubber sheet and make your own. i have a couple as well that are in need of new rubber. bowtiebutler956 650 #4 Posted March 17, 2012 I would be interested in finding those as well. My 53 Bantam 3000 is suffering from the same problem. Matt :flags-texas:
rmaynard 15,949 #5 Posted March 17, 2012 Unless they are available as a pre-made part, I think that I may try this item from McMaster & Carr (90125K53). It is 1/4" thick, 1/2" wide, black rubber, 60A durometer hardness. It can be purchased in minimum 12" lengths. Since I have other stuff that I need to order, I will add it to the list. Just need to cut to length, drill a few holes, and pop-rivet the thing back together again. Martin & Matt - If it works, I will let you know. Denny - Thanks for the offer. I it doesn't work I will let you know.
Martin 2,133 #6 Posted March 17, 2012 sounds like the way to go. dont really have the time to mess with something like this at the moment, so bob thanks for being the test pilot! will note that number, i order from them regularly.......
rmaynard 15,949 #7 Posted March 25, 2012 I got the rubber strips from McMaster and they were too flexible. Unable to use them. So I am back to square one.

pfrederi 18,382 #9 Posted March 25, 2012 How about cutting a piece of sidewall from a tire (or a truck wheel flap)? (If you need really stiff try a truck tire) also they sell a "universal" Exhaust system hanger that uses a piece of fabric reinforced rubber riveted between two metal parts. rmaynard 15,949 #10 Posted March 25, 2012 Might give that a try. The stuff that I got from McMaster was 1/4" thick x 1/2" wide. Tensile strength rating of 60A, which is supposed to about the hardness of tire tread. It was much softer in my opinion. The harder stuff is terribly expensive, so I think I may go snooping around a truck stop with my shears.
Martin 2,133 #11 Posted March 25, 2012 The exhaust hanger stuff seems like a good idea. We have belts from wheelabrator blasting machines at work that are worn out. Maybe I will try some of that to see how close it is to the regulator material.
rmaynard 15,949 #12 Posted March 25, 2012 Just got back from the "truck stop". Actually, it's a truck repair shop about a mile from me. Here is what I found. 1. Mud flaps vary in thickness from about 3/16" to 3/8". They are very hard to cut with tin snips. Never did find one that was the same thickness and rigidity as what I need. 2. Truck tire sidewalls have steel cords in them. Back to the drawing board. Going to try the guy that I get my footrest material from. He also sells conveyor belt material. Thanks to Denny Clarke, I now have a good set of used ones. So that will hold me until I do my next rebuild. Thanks again Denny. :text-thankyouyellow:
