JFS 0 #1 Posted March 14, 2012 Hi I went out to the shed to get the tiller stuff together and I noticed a puddle of oil under it. It looks like only the one side is or did leak. But looking at the parts listing they show a seal and a bearing (needle or pilot??) do you have to do both or is the seal good enough. Also the other side isn't leaking should that be done as PM or wait until that one goes? Thanks Jim
can whlvr 994 #2 Posted March 14, 2012 when i did mine it only needed the seal, but this winter i noticed ahuge puddle under it and i havnt got to it yet but the gasket is nla,so ill have to use permatex, youll have to check the shaft for up and down play,if it has any then you need to do the bearings,if not should be the seal only
kpinnc 14,641 #3 Posted March 14, 2012 Like Don said, if the bearings are good you only need to replace the seals. There are two seals for EACH axle per the Toro MPV- I guess it's better to double them up that close to grit and grime.
