C111 Modification... what would you do?

Hello all,

I picked up a clean C111 with the Briggs in it (I hear all the sighs.... leave me alone---there my favorite!!! ) anyways... the bearing plate/needle bearing drive pulley is tight and in great shape. My mod question is all follows----this tractor has the wonderful (siggghhhhh) rubber biscuit cradle and this motor sits there jumping around like an angry Harley.... air filter vibrating and all. So....... I have a solid mount off of a GT2500 which is the 25th anniversary Wheel Horse with the Briggs 11/solid mount and gas tank on engine. I'd like to lift the engine off the biscuit mount and slide the solid in there----do you guys think this is a good idea or did the biscuit mount actually help the bearing plate etc.... stay pretty much wear free?

Whats your thoughts?

Easy fix..let me build you a better briggs...

I have pulled iso mounts out of many different tractors with briggs engines. never had it cause any problems.

I have two C's with iso mounts. No problems with vibration with replaced Honda power.

If the stock iso mounts are too springy for you suggest you replace them with DIY mounts

made up of fender washers/rubber washers combination. Suitable rubber washers can be

fashioned from cheap rubber mallets available in Dollar Stores and the like.

I had two C111 tractors, like you said good machines. I seem to recall the hood was slightly notched to clear the air cleaner. Those briggs engines use to vibrate the air cleaner off of them! On the plus side, ANY time gas was presented to the engine, they would start, the C111 was light on the front end and very easy to steer, they had 1-1/8 inch rear axles and the 8 pinion transmission - from what I recall. I wouldn't think going to solid mounts would be a problem and you can always go back if you don't like it. Oh, the engine had plenty of power and was easy on gas too. I used these tractors with a 36 inch rear discharge deck and got the best cut of any of my Wheelhorse fleet. The narrow width of the deck also allowed me to load the tractor in my little Nissan truck between the wheel wells and shut the tail gate too!

We put a 14HP Kohler on our C-111. We just bolted it on the ISO mount and the tractor runs perfect. Its probably our most reliable WH in the fleet.
