chevrat68 19 #1 Posted March 9, 2012 I'm looking to possibly putting some Wheel horses in a memorial day parade out hear in Ma. Only problem is that some ofthe older Vets think that it doesn't have anything to do with VETERANS. I was just testing the waters with this, but would some of the north east owners like to participate. I was thinking about trying to pull some small trailers each with a different branch of service sign in the trailer. What do you think. Inputs would be helpful. Thanks By the way as a prior member of our armed forces I don't think this is a bad idea.
mrocket49 23 #2 Posted March 9, 2012 A few years ago, I suggested adding a tractor section to our small CT farming town's Memorial day parade but the town elders thought it wasn't appropriate either. They did end up having a tractor/garden tractor parade at the annual Labor Day celabration at the Hilltop Farms barn. They get 10 to 20 tractors there. I take my Ford tractor but could take my Wheel Horse instead. Maybe we could get a group of WH owners to gather. The farm is located in Suffield, CT, right down the street from Six Flags amusement park. Here's a link to the parade. http://www.hilltopfa...vents/farm-fest

chevrat68 19 #4 Posted March 9, 2012 OK is a little different than Boston outskirts. I'm from upstate NY and lived in a small farm community. They wouldn't have had a second thought up there. But around here I'm a hick. Lol
GlenPettit 1,717 #5 Posted March 9, 2012 I think a lot has to do with keeping with the "theme of the parade". What the signs say, the flags and what is being pulled. How neatly done and readable the signs are, if you have kids in the wagons/carts, what they are wearing and doing related to the theme. It's a lot easier to say NO, than try and keep 100% of the people happy. To sketch your tractors' display, or better yet to have pre-photos when presenting your proposal would hake things go a lot easier for the officials. The first time is always the hardest. Go for it, and good luck.
