BIGKUZ 4 #1 Posted March 6, 2012 Been working on a 61-551 resto. with a 5.5 techy had flywheel off motor at least 6-8 times while working on it. First got it off by just putting a small pry bar behind it and it popped right off. Got a new carb and finally got it running the other day then went to take flywheel off again because I saw it was rubbing on coil wire, no luck gave up with the caveman method and went and bought a puller , all I got done was pull the threads out of one of the bolt holes and break one of the fins off. How did this thing get so stuck after runing for just 5mins ? I tried pb-blaster,tried heat .anybody got any ideas ? Thanks in advance bigkuz

Thanks in advance bigkuz You must have spun the fly wheel on the key I think that key sets the timing on those little rascals, right If I remember in the old days. WH854 45 #3 Posted March 7, 2012 They made a tool for removing the fly wheel. It was a gaget like a nut, you screwed it on after you took the nut of,took a smsll bar or screw driver pried up on the fly wheel and smacked that nut with a hammer usually poped loose. wheelhorse656 20 #4 Posted March 8, 2012 Take the nut and screw it on the crank till its flush with the crank and then get a pry bar or screw driver pry out and give the nut a wack or two and it ought to pop right off. they tend to stick to the key after they have been ran. But it will come off again with this methood.
