Picked-up a 1989 WH 310-8 over the weekend

Hello,

I just picked-up my 2nd WH over the weekend! It's a 1989 310-8 with 36" deck and the hard to find double grass bagger. Took me over a month of email and phone calls to the owner to finally pin it down. It was in better shape than expected overall, but the deck is going to need a little love (one of the brackets needs to be welded). Very happy so far and will post pics when they are available.

Congrats on the 310-8. They are a great mowing and bagging machine with the 37" deck but you need to be sure the grass is dry and not real long or the chute will plug up on you. Great on gas too!

Nice tractor, and glad to have you aboard! Hey, Irv - I use my 37" SD deck on a 312-8 in damp grass a foot or better deep and it has never clogged! I do have the deflector removed so I can get closer to things, so that may be part of the reason? :scratchead:

Must be that special patented under-deck oil treatment you use. :)

Congratulations! My first WH was a 1989 310-8 with the 37" deck. It now lives with my younger daughter and her husband. I paid $150 for it, and the deck needed some TLC like yours. As we are all aware, one WH leads to more and I soon had more than the shed would hold. Hence the "gift" to my daughter! I would have room if I got rid of my "extra" Troy-Bilt Horse tillers, but that ain't happen'in....

Here are some pics I just took this past weekend. This is my "new" 310-8 and my C-100 (they are both running in the pics).

Hey folks,

Thanks for the kind words. A few things I noticed when comparing the two machines to each other:

- The wheelbase is exactly the same (front to back)

- Many of the major parts appear to be exactly the same...ie interchangable.

- The 310 has the gas tank under the seat, while the C100 has it just behind the dash (not sure which I like better!)

- The 310 has a safety shut-off switch under the seat, the C100 has nothing

- The mower deck on the 310 is made of lighter gauge steel than the deck on the C100

- The mower deck on the 310 has exposed spindles/mandrels with grease fittings, the C100 are not exposed (don't know if they have grease fittings yet)

- The 10hp Kohler engines appear to be the same...different shielding, air filter, etc...but the same basic block

That's all I noticed after a quick comparison....

Thanks,

Bob
