oldredrider 2,553 #1 Posted March 4, 2012 Can a pre acr cam be replaced with an acr cam and would there be an advantage?
sorekiwi 761 #2 Posted March 4, 2012 Brian Miller has a little about it on his page: http://gardentractorpullingtips.com/valvecam.htm There are differences in the way to set ignition timing as the two piece cam has ignition advance build in to it instead of ACR. The only engine I have had apart that had the 2 piece cam I put back together as it was, so I never got into swapping the cams.
Martin 2,133 #3 Posted March 4, 2012 paul, from the link that mike posted, looks like they might be interchangeable as is. i didnt see any mention of lobe position on the cam being any different. see what they compare like, side by side. i guess if they also check out ok dimensionally, you should be ok. i also forgot to mention to you about looking on brians site earlier. he usually has a lot of info on stuff like this. you know you could just install it and see if anything comes up along the way, ie size, timing difference etc. nice talking to you earlier, by the way... :handgestures-thumbup:
