BairleaFarm 340 #1 Posted July 6, 2008 Seeing how the 1077 was missing a ton of parts for the hydro drive and i didnt have an engine for the 73 4speed I decided to repower it(isnt that what its called?). The engine fits snugly but its a heavy sucker. Thanks goodness ive got a chain hoist in the garage.
rustbucket 4 #2 Posted July 6, 2008 as long as she fits her new home i see nuthing wrong with swaping the engine into a new house from its old one.
kj4kicks 154 #3 Posted July 6, 2008 You'll need to come up with an ignition switch like the one on the 1077, since they are different for the S/G models. The one on the 1077 was bad from what you described. Also, the wiring will be different from the '73.
KyBlue 655 #4 Posted July 6, 2008 Least you got rid of the car tires.. and youve got a flat left front ... looks like ya need to seat the bead again ... Good luck gettin it goin. i'm sure youll get somethin figured out
BairleaFarm 340 #5 Posted July 6, 2008 There is not even a dash panel in the 73. I know I got to get thte switch. Tire wont hold air so ill tube it.
BairleaFarm 340 #6 Posted July 12, 2008 Got to piddle a little more. Not much time to mess with it with maggie here and all. I got the foot rest, ags, seat, and levers mounted. I started a little on the wiring but didnt get far. The 10hp takes up alot of room in the engine compartment. I have a feeling this will be a good running tractor when I get it done. I think all I have left is a few wires, cables, and to tube the front tire.
Curmudgeon 28 #7 Posted July 13, 2008 Just curious, what size back tires are those? Looking good!!!!!!
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #8 Posted July 13, 2008 The tires look like 23 X 8.50-12's to me, but the "body lift" blocks under the rear fender seem to make them look much shorter. B)
Curmudgeon 28 #9 Posted July 13, 2008 THAT'S what looks out of scale!!!!!!!!!!!!! Younger eyes than mine...........
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #10 Posted July 13, 2008 He also has the narrow 1077 rear fender on there too, which really play tricks with the eyes - no matter what age they are. B)
BairleaFarm 340 #11 Posted July 13, 2008 Im sneaky I guess Ill get the tire size tomorrow. I did get the oil changed and wiring installed. Ive also got the tank and filter added. Ill install new cable tomorrow and fire it up hopefully.
Curmudgeon 28 #12 Posted July 13, 2008 All I knew for sure was, those tires are a LONG ways from the fenders. Yet, it seemed to sit level...... I've been known to do some parts swapping between models, so I'm not about to criticize, just couldn't place what was "wrong" for lack of a better word. BairleaFarm 340 #13 Posted July 13, 2008 The fender pan is sitting a little to high but I used what I had. The 2x2 steel and a 2x6 are what its sitting on. The front support of the fender pan was rusted out. I might trim that pan seeing how the front is bent to hell anyways and remove the 2x6. Ill play more with that once i get it running. Id like to have it driving tomorrow and I dont see why that shouldn't be a problem. Time will tell I guess. Seems I always run into a right before I finish a project. BairleaFarm 340 #14 Posted July 13, 2008 Pus im messy when I work. It looks like a slaughter house in my garage with all the wheel horse parts all over the place. Curmudgeon 28 #15 Posted July 13, 2008 I see ENTIRELY TOO MUCH floor for you to truly be messy. I was usually standing straddle a part for some other project, no matter what I was working on........

TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #18 Posted July 13, 2008 Don't forget to install the drive belt guard. It really helps with the declutching function of the belt tensioner, along with keeping pant legs out of the drive belt. That
BairleaFarm 340 #19 Posted July 13, 2008 It seems to be a good driving tractor. Im done with it for a week but next weekend I hope to get ahold of some pull type cables somewhere and get them installed. I also need to get the guard on as well. It might be a good idea to bolt the seat down as well. Oh yeah I almost forgot.
