VinsRJ 723 #1 Posted February 25, 2012 These were used on vintage mini bikes with recoil starters. Does anyone know how these actually work? Would anyone have a pic of one installed on a motor (flywheel off)? The reason I ask is I would like to see if I can adapt one for a Clinton (ignition systems are close) inorder to run a light on one of my RJs. Thanks Vince
pfrederi 18,564 #2 Posted February 25, 2012 Don't know about mini bikes but my snowblower has a Tecumseh snow king motor 8 hp (recoil start and a 120 volt starter- no battery). It has a head light that's brightness varies with engine speed. It must have some kind of lighting coil. I will try to find the manual tomorrow. I would think it works like the lighting system on my WH 310-8 an unregulated system with a separate lead for the headlights (not run via the battery)
