JFS 0 #1 Posted February 22, 2012 Hi just picked up a 520H with 322 hours. My question is the vin tag is faded and can't be read is there any way to find out what year it is to print off the manuels? It has the hydro/lift controls on the column with a swept front axle. Thanks Jim

JFS 0 #3 Posted February 23, 2012 Hi Karl, I just added a picture. Thanks again Jim
CRE1992 135 #4 Posted February 23, 2012 Its either a 93,94 or a 1995. It has the updated toro wheel horse decals, however it is missing the plastic foot and leg pads on the foot boards which a 1996 or 1997 would have. -Charles
nylyon-(Admin) 7,998 #5 Posted February 23, 2012 Yep, and any of those years are going to be the same anyway. For that year, you need the 1st 2 numbers of the serial number to tell you the year, if that is readable you'll be set.
Kelly 1,033 #6 Posted February 23, 2012 Going by the decals, I'm going to say 94 I have a 93 and a 95 your decals are some of both.

JFS 0 #9 Posted February 23, 2012 Needs a little TLC but for $700.00 can't beat it with a good low hour Onan paired with the hydro
SAM58 30 #10 Posted February 23, 2012 I think it could be any where from a 1990 - 1995, due to the steering wheel, decals, foot pads, Ect... I believe the sweep axles started in 1990. I also had a 1992 model identical to this one.
leeave96 490 #11 Posted February 23, 2012 I think you got a good deal. That tractor should clean-up nicely. Hub caps too! Nice. Good luck, Bill
bobert94 38 #12 Posted February 23, 2012 1990- 1993 had the toro in silver on a black decal background 1994-199? had the red box toro on a black decal background. unless the decals have been changed i would say its a post 1993. check out pictures in galery. HorseFixer 2,013 #13 Posted February 23, 2012 Nice find Yep that's a great deal :thumbs2:and a nice tractor
JackC 617 #14 Posted February 25, 2012 You could look up the serial number on the engine which will give you the year of the engine.
JackC 617 #15 Posted February 25, 2012 I believe that hood decal was first used in 1994. I believe the belt cover for 1995 and 1996 had an extra hole to attach a plastic PTO cover. If the hole is missing on the belt cover by the PTO, I would say it is 1994. Does the winner get a prize?
JackC 617 #16 Posted February 25, 2012 With only 322 hours for $700 you got an amazing deal.
JFS 0 #17 Posted February 25, 2012 I got some numbers off the engine decal. Not sure which will tell when it was made. Engine # P220GI / 10955G P/N 941811 D953363197 Serial # SN5782U1G2RA / 782CC Thanks again for all the input Jim
JackC 617 #18 Posted February 25, 2012 The letter is the month and the next two digits are the year. The date of the engine is D=April, and 95 is the year 1995. See attached. http://www.oldgravelys.net/pdf/Onan_Engines_Used_By_Gravely.pdf
JackC 617 #19 Posted February 25, 2012 Keep the tractor hidden. A 1995 520H with 322 hours for $700 would be considered stolen property, at least by this board.
