cdn97 6 #1 Posted February 19, 2012 I just picked up my first Wheel Horse today! My father has had them for years and I finally decided to get one myself. I have a 1969 Work Horse 700. I am wondering if anyone had pictures of the dash panel. I have been looking for a few hours now, but can't seem to find one. This model is a pull start - not ignition start. Looks like someone has hacked the dash, but I am not sure. Also, does anyone have a printable owners manual? Lastly (for now), this has a kohler k181T Pull start motor - is that origional or has it been replaced? I saw a video online and that one had the same motor, so I wasn't sure. Any info you have on this tractor would be much appreciated! I will try to post some photos tomorrow (if it doesn't snow....)
Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted February 19, 2012 Welcome, and I can't right this min. help on the dash, but I can tomorrow I have a work horse 700, I also don't have a owners manual, but I can tell you the Kohler is a nice up grade from the orig. 7hp Tecumseh that came in it when new, so no the engine is not orig. sorekiwi 761 #4 Posted February 19, 2012 I'd leave the pull start kohler on it, a much better engine, and the added weight up front helps a lot as well. I am not 100% sure on the dash panel. I think it should be the same as on the "500 Special", but it does have a different part number. Here is a (not very good) pic of the 500 Special dash:

KC9KAS 4,744 #7 Posted February 19, 2012 From the looks of your photo, the tractor seems to have a nice paint job. Also looks to be missing the ignition switch. The correct switch is NLA....ask me how I know! I actually added a solenoid and a different switch to start mine.
cdn97 6 #8 Posted February 19, 2012 Thanks for all of the info. Here is a photo of my dash. There is a toggle switch that shouldn't be there, but im not sure if there was a key or not. The motor is a pullstart. Any input is appreciated.

rjwhorse700 7 #10 Posted May 16, 2014 I just got done painting my wh700 last night. First restoration Ive ever done. I didnt go completely original because I only had a bare frame with like new original tires! I went with black bed liner coating for the frame and snow blade. Then ih red for the rest. Mine had no dash plate so I made one from 1/16 plate steel. Not sure what options im goin to put on it. Any ideas? Im not quite computer savy enough to post pics but they are to come.

rjwhorse700 7 #16 Posted May 16, 2014 Were they originally shiny and black? I like the decal but I need somethng that will show up good against black
Horse Play 393 #17 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Yes, originally it was a brushed steel and black finish - the decal is an exact copy of how the original dash looked. Mine was rusted, so I sanded, primed and painted it silver before applying the decal. Edited May 16, 2014 by Horse Play
rjwhorse700 7 #18 Posted May 31, 2014 I got my instrument panel done except for the holes drilled. Now im at a loss cause my fenders dont have brackets and the few that I have seen were tack welded to the fender. Do they sell a universal bracket that will bolt to the hooes I have? The ones I saw were unused and makes me wonder what the extra holes are for. Water drain? Any advice would be appreciated
