jdog_kustoms 82 #1 Posted February 9, 2012 i have a tiller for a smaller wheel horse i use a lot I’m looking at getting one for a c195 or d series and was wondering which would be better to use the one on a c195 or on the smaller wheel horses Any ideas or how yours works on your d series or c 195 would be greatly appreciated
Jim_M 179 #2 Posted February 10, 2012 I have a tiller on a 308-8 and it does just fine. I can till all year on one tank of gas. I have 2 fairly large gardens that get tilled twice in the spring and once in the fall. The little tractors run cheaper and are far more manueverable. A big tractor won't do any better job of tilling, it will just cost you more.
jdog_kustoms 82 #3 Posted February 10, 2012 i normally till witrh my 416-8 but i have a chance to get the c 195 tiller dont know if its wroth getting but im thinkin about having both
Jim_M 179 #4 Posted February 10, 2012 You can never have too many attachments. If the price is right, go for it, they're not making any more of them. Besides that will give you a chance to find out first hand which one works better for you. I prefer a gear drive for tilling and a hydro for most everything else. jdog_kustoms 82 #5 Posted February 10, 2012 that songs like a good idea having both then maybe i can put up a comparison post for other people
dobeleo 7 #6 Posted February 10, 2012 Hi Jim M I have a 312-A. Do you need chains or extra weight when you till with your 308-6? Dan Shorewood, IL
Jim_M 179 #7 Posted February 10, 2012 I have chains and wheel weights on it. I'm not sure if the weights are necessary but they were already on when I put the tiller on so I left them.
wheelhoss 2 #8 Posted February 10, 2012 The wheel weighs will help you if tilling down a little bit of grade and if the ground is not plowed very deep. the tiller will try to push you
4xfourfun 30 #9 Posted February 14, 2012 The tiller of my D180 does a pretty good job. The only real issue I have is maintaining a creeper speed......especially if trying to till hard ground or sod. Once I get it broke up some it does pretty good. But getting to that point takes some work and getting pushed around a lot lol.
