ignition question?

Recommended Posts

So 5 tabs on the back of my 1975 c-160 ignition switch. All tabs get constant power except one. It has power till you crank the key then power goes away till either the engine starts or you stop cranking it.. My question is which wire, seeing that my connector rotted away goes to that terminal, the lights or the rectifier?

Download the file on C-series electrical from the file section. http://www.wheelhors...ng-detailedpdf/

Look at the first diagram. that shows what should be "hot" with the switch OFF. If any other contacts have voltage, then you have a bad or improper switch, or it is wired wrong.

This might help - the wiring diagram and truth table for the ignition switch shows what terminals inside the switch can be expected to be connected together at any given position of the switch. If your wiring to any one terminal is incorrect, hot or grounds can be fed improperly to any other interconnected switch terminal.
