meadowfield 2,756 #2 Posted February 5, 2012 from my experience, check all the relevant parts are there... if it starts check it will move forward and reverse on the hydro, if you can try pull something and see if it stalls or skids - also see if the hydro is noisy... it will make noise under extreme load though ! Check the parking brake - it is often broken through engaging whilst on the move. Transmission needs splitting to repair this. mark
Pollack Pete 2,273 #3 Posted February 5, 2012 Check the motor oil.Fairly clean or black? Check tranny fluid.Full? Clean?Obvious newly changed tranny filter? Tires seem to hold air? Dry rotted? New tires adds 250 to 300 bucks to your total cost.Choke and throttle cable work nice and smooth?Good battery? If not, immediate 30 to 40 bucks.Start right up.No blue smoke? No knocks or other odd noises?Good luck if you buy it.I have a couple GT-14's.Some of my favorite horses. They seem to have LOTS of power.Any attachments with it?? Sparky-(Admin) 23,281 #5 Posted February 6, 2012 Buying a non-running hydro tractor is a wicked gamble as you can not test the hydro tranny or the hydraulic lift. Its probably best you walked away. Mike..........
